The Queen of Auvergne
Sylvie Pullès has won glory in the Massif Central. Born on 8 June 1972 in Aurillac (Cantal), the author, composer and accordionist has carried off the enviable title of « Queen of Auvergnat folklore », following her illustrious predecessors Jean Ségurel, Jean Vaissade, Georges Cantournet, Robert Monédière and André Thivet.
From a little country girl who went public for the first time at Saint-Martin-sous-Vigouroux at the age of 12, she has become the incontestable star of the accordion — a true ambassador of Auvergnat folklore throughout the world: Argentina, Quebec, Reunion, Denmark, Germany, Spain, Italy.
The great stages
On 8 May 2010, Sylvie Pullès « converted the Olympia to the accordion » — the second accordionist ever, and first woman, to headline that legendary stage, 54 years after André Verchuren. She returned on 30 May 2015 for her 30-year career celebration.
In 2019 she celebrated 35 years of career at the Alhambra in Paris and released « Le Bal des Auvergnats », including « Petits princes du rocher », written at the request of Prince Albert II of Monaco. On 29 June 2020 she was named Chevalier in the Order of Arts and Letters.
